Mechanisms of Protein Phosphorylation at the AIS

R01

Gao lab receives an R01 grant to study the mechanisms of protein phosphorylation and dynamic regulation at the AIS. This marks an important milestone for the lab and the beginning of many exciting discoveries to come!

A distinct PP2A subunit regulates local protein phosphorylation at the axon initial segment.

Nature Communications

The existence of specialized phosphatases in regulating the AIS was unclear. In this initial report, we show that a PP2A subunit is selectively enriched at the AIS and contributes to its local phosphoregulation. Fun collaboration with Dr. Matthew Rasband's lab!
