A distinct PP2A subunit regulates local protein phosphorylation at the axon initial segment.
Nature Communications
The existence of specialized phosphatases in regulating the AIS was unclear. In this initial report, we show that a PP2A subunit is selectively enriched at the AIS and contributes to its local phosphoregulation. Fun collaboration with Dr. Matthew Rasband's lab!
25/02/01 Grant Received!

2024 Simons Foundation Pilot Award
Gao lab receives 2024 Simons Foundation Pilot Award to study sodium channel trafficking in Autism spectrum disorders.

Nature Communications
Very excited that the work from my postdoc period is finally out! ENDOGENOUS proximity proteomics -> mechanism -> phenotypic modulation in mouse models of autism.
24/02/23 First rotations!

Congrats on successfully completing the rotation projects, Joshua and Tzu-Hsuan! Super fun science.
